Could someone tell me the difference between a Honda Accord EX-L and a Honda EX?

Could someone tell me what the "L" designates? Also, is there a way to tell (besides the VIN) what were standard options on a given year and model Honda, based on the LX, DX, EX designation? We're interested in Accords and Civics. Thanks.

The L designates that the car has leather. (but it also adds a few other options).

For the 08 Accord, the EX-L offers a few more features over the EX, Leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, and leather shift knob (5spd). Automatic
