I am putting a 200 amp Powermaster alternator (13.6 volts) in my Ford Ranger; will it hurt anything?

You will be fine, I suggest doing "The Big 3" and you will definitely have to upgrade the wiring harness. That's about it... Have fun. Too add more volts to an amp typically raises the watt output, that's why your amp heated up so much more.
